On many websites you will find national companies with a ton of information about like kind exchanges, warnings, helpful tips and suggestions.  They have national offices, they will tell you how great their security is, their staff is and how many thousands of exchanges they have done over many many years.

What good is all that if the bank fails, or they keep changing staff?

Doesn't it start sounding like a lot of background noise anyway?  At the end of the day, don't you just want to feel comfortable doing a like kind exchange?  You just want to know that the person or team you trust with your capital gains deferral and money is going to do the "right thing".  In other words they know the tax code, they are transparent in handling your money and they don't make mistakes in the process.
